Christopher W. Wood

Partner
Christopher Wood is a dedicated trial lawyer who helps families impacted by catastrophic injuries or the death of a loved one. With extensive experience litigating product liability, wrongful death, and other personal injury cases, he is unwaveringly committed to holding negligent parties responsible for their wrongdoing. Mr. Wood has the legal expertise and conviction necessary to take on even the most powerful corporations in pursuit of justice for the injured.
At age 37, Mr. Wood became the youngest named partner at the law firm of Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora, LLP. Among his many honors and accolades, Mr. Wood’s trial lawyer peers voted him into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2012, a distinction achieved by less than 1 percent of practicing lawyers nationwide.

A Steadfast Commitment to Zealous Representation

Throughout his career, Mr. Wood has played a vital role in ensuring his injured clients recover full compensation from the at-fault parties. He won a $4.3 million judgment against Jelly Belly Candy Company in Stanislaus County for injuries sustained by his client, Sandra K. Initially, Jelly Belly offered a $1 million settlement; the corporation now owes over $4.3 million following the 3-week trial.
Recently, Mr. Wood settled a case involving an explosion for $5.1 million against a corporate defendant. Prior to that, he obtained a $2.3 million judgment in a jury trial against Folsom Ready Mix in Sacramento County. The corporation’s driver rear-ended a line of vehicles, including Mr. Wood’s client, Bonnie S., who suffered significant cervical injuries requiring pain management.
In Greer v. Buzgheia, Mr. Wood was instrumental in setting the standard for the admissibility of medical expenses in trials across California. Affirmed and published by the Third District Court of Appeal in 2006, the Greer decision allows the plaintiff to introduce all their medical expenses instead of limiting damages to what was paid by health insurance.
In addition to helping individual injury victims, Mr. Wood has also worked to protect police officers and fire personnel. The Third District Court of Appeal published Mr. Wood’s case, Terry v. Garcia, confirming the independent negligence exception to the fireman’s rule. Terry allows a police officer or fireman injured by a third party while responding to a call to recover compensation from that third party instead of relying solely on worker’s compensation benefits.

Education and Background

Mr. Wood earned his Juris Doctor from Lincoln Law School in Sacramento, California, in 1997 and was admitted to the State Bar of California the following year. Prior to obtaining his J.D., Mr. Wood completed his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Sacramento, in 1993. Mr. Wood is a member of several professional legal organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys of California, Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Santa Clara Trial Lawyers.
Growing up just outside Redding, California, Mr. Wood worked for his father on weekends and summer breaks performing residential, commercial, and industrial construction. The value of “showing up and giving your all” was ingrained in him at a young age through his father’s example of hard work and dedication. Mr. Wood lives with his wife, Amy, and their four children in Sacramento County.
